Multi-Channel AI Automation Bot
Build a local ticket classification and draft workflow before connecting real channels or enabling delivery.
Build guide and prerequisites
Follow this roadmap to implement and validate your own application, then record your observed results.
- Basic JSON and HTTP/webhook concepts.
- Synthetic ticket examples and a clear category/priority rubric.
Required tools and free options
- Python or locally installed n8n
- SQLite
- Local JSON fixtures
- Optional local model
Cost: A local Python prototype has no provider fees. n8n hosting and connected services have separate terms; cloud messaging or model APIs are optional and may charge.
Build it step by step
1. Define the event schema
Create sample events with event ID, channel, sender alias and body. Use fictional data. Write allowed categories and priorities with examples rather than asking a model to invent labels.
2. Build a manual-input workflow
Use a local Python script or an n8n manual trigger to load three fixtures. Normalize each channel into the same schema and reject events with missing IDs or oversized bodies. Do not connect actual inboxes yet.
3. Classify and draft separately
Implement a deterministic keyword baseline with an unknown category. Optionally compare a local model that returns validated JSON. Generate a proposed reply as a draft field, never as an automatic send action.
4. Make processing repeatable
Store event IDs and results in SQLite. If the same event arrives twice, return the existing result instead of creating a second reply. Record retries and isolate bad events so one malformed payload cannot stop the whole batch.
5. Add a review queue
Show original text, classification reason, proposed reply and an explicit reviewed state. Add no outbound delivery credentials. Record what a reviewer changed to improve the rubric and test set.
6. Test before any integration
Replay duplicate, malformed, urgent and ambiguous fixtures. Confirm there are zero outbound messages and every event has a visible status. Real email/Discord/GitHub adapters require separate credentials, permission checks and a sandbox delivery test.
Expected output and validation
A local normalized event pipeline and review queue. Real channel connections and automatic replies are not provided or enabled by this guide.
- Replaying an event does not duplicate work.
- Unknown classifications go to review.
- No fixture run sends a message or alters an external account.
